“World” or “Age” in Matthew 12:32 et al.?
"And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come." (Matthew 12:32, KJV)
The semantic scope of “αιών (aiōn)” is wide, allowing the meaning of “world (all that the age encompasses)” by implication. The literal NASB translates “αιών” as “world” in Matthew 13:22, Mark 4:19, 2 Corinthians 4:4, 1 Timothy 6:17, 2 Timothy 4:10, Hebrews 1:2 and Hebrews 11:3.
