Some critics see this as an Anglican influence on the KJV which would discredit its use for non-Anglicans. However, the Greek word is “επίσκοπος (episkopos),” which is the word that became Anglicized as “bishop.” “Episkopos” in Greek became “episcopus” in Latin, which became “bisceop” in Old English, which then became “bishop.” “Bishop” is a biblical word.
