“The desire of women” or “The one desired by women” in Daniel 11:37?

"Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all." (Daniel 11:37, KJV)

Daniel prophesied that the Antichrist (Matthew 24:15) shall not regard “the desire of women.” To resolve the ambiguity of the statement, some translations (NIV, ESV) have infused the translators’ interpretation of the prophecy and rendered the passage as “the one desired by women.” Critics point that the parallel structure, “the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women” suggests that “the desire of women” is also a deity, and take that this phrase merely reiterates that the Antichrist will be an anti-theist. However, the passage as it stands literally, could also mean that the Antichrist will not be interested in the concerns of women. This latter interpretation is consistent with the fact that the Antichrist will be a lover of himself rather than of women. He shall “magnify himself above all” (Daniel 11:37). The NASB sides with the KJV in translating this verse literally.
